Draft for review. Last updated 24 October 2026.
What this site collects
The site collects the details you enter in its forms:
- the contact form: your name, institution, email, whether you write as an institution or a candidate, your region, and your message;
- the insights sign-up: your email address;
- the market brief download: your name, work email, institution or organisation, role, region, and whether you would like insights by email;
- the For scholars form: your CV and the details described below.
It sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
How the details are used
Contact details are used to reply to your enquiry. Email addresses given for insights are used to send those notes, and each note includes a way to unsubscribe. Details given to download a market brief record who requested it and, if you ask, are used to send insights by email. Details are not sold or shared for marketing.
How the details reach White Matter
Everything you send through the site’s forms is delivered by email to White Matter’s inbox. The website itself keeps no copy. Two providers handle the details on the way: Resend, which delivers the emails, and Microsoft 365, which hosts White Matter’s email. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the site. These providers may process data outside your country.
Scholars who share a CV
If you submit your CV through the For scholars page, White Matter holds your CV and the details you give (name, contact details, current appointment, field, the roles and regions you would consider, and any ORCID iD or profile link) to consider you for current and future appointments and to contact you about them. Your details are held in confidence and go to an institution with your agreement.
How long details are kept
Enquiries and brief requests are kept for as long as they are needed to reply and to follow up. CVs are kept while they may be relevant to appointments White Matter is working on, and are deleted when you ask or when they are no longer needed.
Candidates and the scholarly record
In its search work, White Matter reads the open scholarly record: published papers, affiliations, and co-authorships. Nothing is inferred from a person’s name or origin. No researcher is named to a client until identity is confirmed from the works record.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the details White Matter holds about you, including your CV, by writing to enquiries@whitemattersearch.com.
