Questions From Scholars

What happens after I submit my CV?

You receive a reference number. We read your CV alongside your publication record. When a university retains White Matter for a post that suits your record, we contact you to discuss it.

Will my institution know I have shared my CV?

No. Your details are held in confidence. Your name goes to an institution with your agreement, after we have spoken with you about the post.

How is my information used?

To consider you for current and future appointments, and to contact you about them. It is not sold or shared for marketing. Mobility is read from career facts, such as affiliations and co-authorships; nothing is inferred from your name or origin.

Do I need to be based in a particular region?

No. We source the full field of research-active scholars, worldwide, for every mandate, wherever the institution is. Tell us the regions you would consider, or choose “Open to any”.

Can I update or remove my CV?

Yes. Write to enquiries@whitemattersearch.com with your reference number, and we will update or delete your details.

Why do you ask for an ORCID iD?

It lets us match your CV to your publications with confidence. We name no one to a client until identity is confirmed from the works record, and an ORCID iD makes that quicker.

What a Faculty Departure Costs

Universities price appointments but seldom price departures. Across 29 Gulf universities, a fifth of researchers appear on about four in five of the most cited papers. In some fields, one departure puts about a third of that record at risk.

How to Read a Provost Candidate's Record

Provost and dean searches rest on reputation, references and interview. The research record of the units a candidate has led is public and rarely read. Set against peer units over the same years, it gives a committee evidence an interview cannot.

Cohort Hiring as One Portfolio

Gulf universities already hire in clusters: about half of arrivals publish with another recent arrival, and about half share a subfield with one. When each post is filled on its own, a cohort can duplicate strengths and leave gaps; planning the posts together avoids both.
